
Morse code turns letters into short and long signals, allowing language to move through clicks, tones, flashes or electrical pulses.

Why it matters
The idea in context
Its genius is portability. A message does not need a voice if pattern can survive: short, long, gap, repeat. Telegraph operators, radio users and emergency communicators all relied on the same basic insight: language can become rhythm and still remain language.
