The idea in context
These were among the last public words of Susan B. Anthony, spoken in 1906 at her 86th-birthday celebration in Washington, weeks before she died. She had spent over fifty years campaigning for women's right to vote and would not live to see it. Yet she closed with defiance: with so many devoted women carrying the cause forward, 'failure is impossible'. American women won the vote fourteen years later.
