Your skin makes vitamin D when exposed to sunlight, but many people are low, especially where winters, clothing or indoor work reduce exposure.

Why it matters
The idea in context
Vitamin D helps with bone health and other body functions, and sunlight can trigger its production in skin. But latitude, season, skin pigmentation, clothing, sunscreen, air pollution and indoor work all change exposure. This matters globally because there is no one-size-fits-all sun rule. The lesson is balance: light is useful, but context decides the dose.

Cilt güneş ışığına maruz kalınca D vitamini üretir; ama kışların, giysilerin ya da kapalı mekân işinin maruziyeti azalttığı yerlerde birçok insan düşük kalabilir.
D vitamini kemik sağlığına ve başka beden işlevlerine yardım eder; güneş ışığı ciltte üretimini başlatabilir. Ama enlem, mevsim, cilt rengi, giysi, güneş kremi, hava kirliliği ve kapalı mekân işi maruziyeti değiştirir. Herkes için tek bir güneş kuralı yoktur. Işık yararlıdır, ama dozu bağlam belirler.
