Why it matters

The idea in context

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is the United States' national public-health agency, founded in 1946 in Atlanta. Its Physical Activity Guidelines make a deliberately low-threshold promise: adults who simply sit less and do any amount of moderate-to-vigorous activity gain measurable health benefits — lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, depression and several cancers. The science removed the excuse of the heroic starting point: the first small dose already counts.
